It's a great poem... a friend sent it to me when I was in the middle of some drama. I love your photos too!
Oh the childhood memories of our beach cottage. It was eventually covered but when I was very little the walls were like that. It could be very cold but many doses of old fashioned simplicity are good for one.
I think you are correct. It is a great time to pause and reflect on the season, our families and purpose in life and not the commercialism.

funny as I see all of this, 'cause it makes me think of "the little house on the prairie", series I've been loving ever since I was little...and ever since I lived in several countries and watched the series in different languages....it always makes me (and still) feel like going to those days....
I had never heard of the poem Desiderata, and have just googled it. It is so in tune with the path I want to follow in my life. The universe is on everyone's side if they choose it to be. Just imagine the amazing changes that could take place in this world if we all chose peace, joy and happiness this year.
