Old Ways





There is so much that I love about the 'old days'. I like the 'can do' spirit of people, particularly those that lived through the Great Depression and World War II. 

I love their ability to 'make do and mend' and work with what they had. 

Of course, not everything about the 'good old days' is good. I would never support the oppression of women, inequality of races or the abuse of children, but that's the beauty of romanticizing the past... you can take what you want and dump the rest! 

The things I am taking from the past is the wisdom of running a household, keeping the family budget on track, bartering and celebrating the joy in the small things.
